Adding Some Crunch While Keeping Narrative Strong
So, many of you might be asking, why the crunch in Rapture? The crunch serves two purposes. First, it gives depth to previous renditions of Rapture, allowing players (and their REFs) more room for negotiations, while giving the necessary guidance and tools for different kinds of tabletop roleplaying. While this new rendition of Rapture still espouses the rulings, not rules approach, there is a need to offer solid frameworks to facilitate this—hence the crunch. Crunch also facilitates deeper narratives, if done properly. The character creation process is both crunchy and smooth–like my favorite peanut butter. Crunch isn't there for numbers' sake, but, rather, for deepening narratives, actions, and character development.
