Rapture Is Coming… Are You Ready?

The Rapture Roleplay System, i.e., Rapture, is set to be released to our Kickstarter backers on Backerkit on Thursday, September 28, and on Friday, September 29, to everyone else!

It has been a wild journey. Tyler and I began working on this roleplaying system back in May/June 2022, and we have been pushing to get this core rulebook out to everyone ever since.

For those new to this project, you might be wondering: Why another setting-agnostic, universal roleplaying system? Don't we have enough? Like we've had GURPS, Fate, Fudge, etc., etc., etc.

Well, the rub for us is that Rapture was looking to address the need to add narrative elements to crunchier, mathy games like Dungeons & Dragons. With that fiasco concerning the update OGL (which was finally torpedoed due to community outrage), we decided to pursue our own system, something we could build, tinker, and expand upon on our own, with our fellow tabletop RPG game designers and our fans.

Rapture is, and will always be, an open-source, community-centered game system. When it launches this week, it is no longer the property of our minds here at Free Radicals Press and Softcore Anarchy. Instead, it will become a project of the larger TTRPG community.
