Free Radicals Magazine was developed as a thought experiment concerning the nature of publishing in the speculative fiction magazine, journal, and zine markets. Over the course of three (3) issues, Free Radicals Magazine evolved into a magazine covering more than speculative fiction. It grew to include speculation nonfiction and even gaming. However, by Issue 003, Free Radicals Magazine was on its last legs, with rising costs, inflation pressures, and serious problems stemming from supply chain fiascos. Our lead editor, G. Michael Rapp, decided to put the magazine on permanent hiatus, initially, by late-April, early-May 2022. With help from supporters, friends, artists, designers, and writers, Free Radicals Magazine is returning as a limited print-run and widely available digital magazine. It will still remain a quarterly magazine, with a new focus on gaming, speculation (fiction and nonfiction), and worldbuilding.
